Personalised Wedding Hangers

Megan contacted us with the idea of using our Cricut Maker 3 to cut out the names of her bridal party in vinyl. She had seen this done before and wanted to try it herself to cut back on the cost of outsourcing but also to be involved in the creative process.

Megan is a freelance graphic designer so she had already created her designs in Adobe Illustrator. The font was one she was carrying through her wedding scheme including her invitations.

Unfortunately, anything creative takes a bit of trial and error. The style of the font was making the process very fiddly and time consuming. We were able to cut out the design after 2 attempts with smart vinyl however, the delicate style of the font was making it almost impossible to transfer neatly onto the hangers.

The upside to anything creative is that you can almost always problem solve! We realised that we didn't have to use vinyl as Megan’s hangers were made from wood which meant we could use our Glowforge (laser cutter)! The Glowforge has the option to engrave so after testing out a few different settings we came across the perfect finish.

After a few quick test runs we realised that the varnish on the wooden hangers meant that the scorch marks from the laser could be wiped right off! This left us with a really clean design and we both loved the final outcome!

Below you can see the behind the scenes process and a few more examples of some of the other hangers for the bridal party.

If you have any ideas or a project of your own that you would like to discuss feel free to drop us an email to book an appointment!
