3D Printing Alien Worlds with Penarth and District Wargames society

The Penarth and District Wargames society members were some of the first visitors and users to our Makerspace. As a group they are full of ideas and creativity. What we have most enjoyed about working with them is the open mindedness and enthusiasm they bring when it comes to the new technology that we have in our Makerspace.

They have come up with numerous ways to make the most of the equipment we have here from mini 3D printed soldiers to MDF gaming counters and the ideas just keep coming which we of course love!

More recently, they came up with the idea to host an Open Day at the Makerspace to introduce the public to different types of table top gaming and showcase how they have utilised the technology we have here for their gaming.

For the Open Day Peter, one of the members, designed a game that could be played by anyone. It went down very well, Simon and I especially had a great time as did the kids who came in to try it out. We printed out a few rockets and plants for the game to help add to the scenery. We were amazed by how incredible they looked after the war gamers painted them up! The 3D printer printed them out in green filament as you can see in the first and second photos, what a difference a bit of paint makes!
