Designing a top for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Katie came to us in a bit of a panic as the day before the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee she still hadn’t found the perfect top for her street party.
Luckily, we had availability on the morning of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee so we booked an appointment for Katie to come in and design her own using our Heat press and Cricut Smart Iron On Vinyl.
We had limited time to design and create Katie’s top as she had to get back for a meeting so we got started on the design straight away. We currently have a subscription to Cricut’s Library of images at the Makerspace so we started there.
Katie knew that she wanted the Union Jack in the shape of a heart with the Queen’s head in the centre. We managed to find the Union Jack in the shape of a heart but did a little bit of design work to get the Queen’s head in the centre and add some text.
You can see parts of our process below:
Due to the project being quite last minute, Katie didn’t have a top that contained 75% polyester or above. If she had, we could have used our sublimation printer with the heat press for a much quicker outcome.
She did however have a cotton top which meant we could use our Smart Iron On Vinyl. This made the design slightly more challenging but luckily we had the right colours for the Union Jack!
